Patriarchal era ?-1250 b. c: abraham, issac, jacob, joseph, abraham was borne and lived in ur (southern meso. ) God tells him to leave and go north to haran-> then down the coast of amurs. They were shepherds; 4 generations at the coast. He moved into serbia-> then to the coast. When they get down there they found out that this land wasn"t abandon (big cities already there): meggido. These early people were living amongst an already settled landscape. Then a drought came- joseph went down and became one of the royal courts with the help of the pharaoh. New pharaoh came and he wasn"t familiar with the tribe. He used the hebrews as slaves by this new pharaoh. The next thing that happens is the birth of moses.
