Section vi-1 in this experiment, we measured the diameter, d, of the pendulum bob and the thickness, t, of the 100 gram mass using a ruler and a digital caliper. Next, by calculating the difference between the maximum and minimum recorded values for each group, we measured the ranges of measured values for both instruments. Then, the relative sizes of these ranges were compared. The range of using a digital caliper: 25. 0mm-24. 5mm=0. 5mm. Because pendulum bob is a ball, we cannot use the eyes and ruler to find the correct diameter. The caliper could measure diameter in the most precise way than the ruler. The range of using a digital caliper: 8. 7mm-8. 7mm=0mm. Conclusion: by comparing the two ranges of using a ruler and a digital caliper, we find out that the range of caliper is smaller than the ranger of ruler. Just like the pendulum bob experiment, we cannot use eyes to find the correct thickness.
