Group design - observe a group to see if changes occur. Criterion group - subjects who exhibit the disorder under study. Control group - participants who do not receive the experimental treatment (randomly selected) Placebo group - participants have improve from treatment. Double blind design - neither participants nor experimenters are aware of the experimental conditions. Each group gets some form of treatment. Compare 1 treatment to the other to see if 1 is better or faster, or to look at the process. Twin studies ---> concordance rate % of cases in which both member of a pair have particular attribute.
