Nyc mortality rate: rate from 1814 to 1855 increased, tennant living caused a lot of health issues, no such thing as a public school system or parenthood, child labor is a very big issue. Health state of the south: mch under slavery, black mother"s cannot take care of their own children because they had to take care of plantation owner"s children. Dr. josephine baker: director of bureau of child hygiene, created way for mothers to receive clean milk, also educated on feeding, clothing, airing, and care of infant.
