Tribalism: an outdated term that was used by westerners to refer to groups of indigenous peoples in africa, asia, and latin america. Ethnic identity: the set of meanings that individuals impute to their membership in an ethnic community. Ethnic group: is composed of large or small cultural group who share a sense of: Kurds are an ethnic group that has state aspirations. Kurds live in turkey, iraq, iran, syria, and parts of the soviet union. Palestine was an ethnic group without a state. State: legal concept describing a social group that occupies a defined territory and is organized under a common political institutions and an effective government. The state exercises sovereign authority within its boundaries and is recognized by other states. Identity: a conception of the self, a selection of physical,psychological, emotional, or social/cultural attributes of particular individuals. The perception of what you think you are versus what other people think you are.
