Precontrol the level at which someone who is entirely unfamiliar with a skill performs. Control someone who has slight familiarity with a skill/movement and can perform it with a minimal level of success. Utilization can often perform the skill/movement automatically in a game situation with some level of success. The athlete can perform the skill/movement in a variety of ways/situations. Proficiency characterized by seemingly effortless, automatic movements. Break down sport into basic skills: write down the fundamental motor skills, specialized skills, movement concepts, etc. Determine the scope (range of what you will teach) and the sequence. Teach individual movement concepts or skill themes. Combine skills and concepts into small games.
