13 views9 pages

Document Summary

Literature can be confusing because of all different terminology. For the most part these are all the same kids/behaviors. Many different ways to define same behaviors. Odd is associated with lots of negative outcomes. Often sounds like an adult personality disorder. Unlike adhd, which needs two settings, odd only needs to be present in one setting. Only make diagnosis if impairment is occurring. Dsm-iv would only diagnose cd but dsm v can have comorbidity between. Odd predicts lots of negative things like depression. Odd has symptoms in kids that come across as child depression. Criticism is that it could be bad parenting but the child is stuck with the diagnosis. Goes along with lack of emotion regulation. Dsm is set up to be atheoretical (only describes behavior) If the environment changes over time, the odd may improve as well. Only need 4 symptoms to get diagnosis. The actual act of aggression and vindictiveness is more cd.
