Lovaas method vs discrete trial learning vs. incidental training: incidental: child initiates the action and they are rewarded with whatever it is they wanted to do, lovaas: based on operant conditioning, discrete: therapist guided. Parents may be so desperate that they find internet treatments and they spend lots of money on non-evidence based treatments instead of helping their child with evidence-based treatment. Quite normative early in development to be a picky eater. Wide range of kids require professional intervention. Are they growing at the expected rate: having one good meal at least every other day. If you end up with a later eating disorder, you are much more likely to have had feeding problems when you were younger. Most kids who were picky eaters do not end up having an eating disorder. Defining feature is that they refuse to maintain a normal weight.
