9-8-2016: theory about the unconscious mind- so will be all of the above, fixation- as you go through a stage, certain needs are pre-potent. When needs aren"t satisfied, then child"s mind is still stuck at that stage even when they are adults. Part of child"s psyche becomes fixated at stage: regression- as child is going through stages, and too many problems occur, part of the child"s psyche goes back to the previous stages- goes backwards. 3 organ systems: orality and eating (mouth, oral, anality and elimination (anus, anal, genitality and sexuality (genitials, falic) These systems reflect pleasure centers- aka erogenous zones. Things that are phenotypically opposite can be identically. Oral stage: everything comes through the mouth and feeding. Can become fearful, anxious- might be weaned off too early, or the mother is not enjoying it, so orally fixated- stuck at that stage. Orally fixated- part of psyche stops at oral stage.
