What made GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) unique to other anxiety disorders?
Lacks the trigger (panic, afraid of panic; phobia, afraid of something)
Obsessive compulsive disorders
Examples: OCD, Hoarding, Trichotillomania
Trauma and Stress Related Disorders
PTSD and Adjustment Disorder
Personality Disorders
Cluster A: auto eccentric behavior
o Off behavior, goofy
o 3 disorders KNOW
1. Paranoid Personality Disorder
2. Schizoid Personality Disorder
3. Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Cluster B: dramatic, emotional, erratic behavior
o Histrionic PD:
Made up of seductive and impulsive behavior
Validation through being wanted by others
Rapidly changing moods with shallow emotions (sort of angry, sort of
annoyed, etc.)
o Narcissistic PD:
Self-absorbed, expects special treatment
Envious of attention to others, needs recognition as superior
Don’t trust other people; self is much more trustworthy
o Borderline PD:
Demonstrates instability in mood, self-image, and interpersonal
relationships
Deep emotional changes in mood (Frantically distraught to over-the-moon
manic)
Only lasts usually a few hours
Key Q: “Do you ever sometimes not feel like yourself or not know who
you are?”
Need to be close with people, but any disturbance in perception of the
relationship causes person to quickly and volatilely end relationship
Lack of impulse control
Often manifests in self harm or self-destructive behaviors
Effects 1-2% of population, more common in women
o Antisocial Personality Disorder:
Demonstrates chronic pattern of impulsive and irresponsible behavior
Disregard for social conduct; violates the rights of others and lacks
empathy
Leads to impulsive and irresponsible behavior
Does not show remorse or guilt for actions
Cluster C: Anxious or Fearful Behavior
