It"s at the intersection of neuroscience, economics, and psychology. The term was invented at ua, 20 years ago by kevin mccabe. Involves the search for brain correlates of decision making. The specific activation of a brain region (or whole circuit) by one cognitive task and no other task is good evidence that that region is strictly and specifically connected with that mental activity. However, inferences can be drawn when a brain region is known to be activated by other lower activities. Let"s talk about pre-history of the field of neuro-economics: He was a leader and had great qualities. While working, an iron rod went through his face. The model of gage"s face allows us to see where the rod crossed his face/skull. He was able to talk and be normal despite the major accident. The region (ventral medial pre-frontal) is the region that was affected by the accident. This region is what started the study of this field!
