Document Summary

We are content to have learned the reality of certain notions through experience, from which we then compose others following the example of nature. People of the day have abused that whatever i clearly and distinctly perceive about a thing is true or is assertable of the thing in question. Meant to send this discourse to arnauld. Our best notion of god god is an absolutely perfect being. Things in nature may have contradictions, but omnipotence does not contain any such impossibilities. God does everything in the most perfect and desirable way. In saying that things are not good by virtue of any rule of goodness but solely by virtue of the will of god, it seems to me that we unknowingly destroy all of gods love/glory. Eternal truths of metaphysics and geometry are consequences of god"s understanding which does not depend on his will anymore then does his essence.
