Establish clear identity for family as a whole and each family member. Develop clearly defined boundaries between the family and the outside world and between the individual members within the family. Manage the family household (chores, finances, problems) Manage the emotional demands of the family life. Adapt to ho they execute their tasks in response to the normative and non- normative stresses encountered over time. You cant just add the parts together to get the system, the system is more than the sum of its parts . Complex structures consisting of interdependent group of individuals who: have a shared sense of history, share emotional ties to one another, devise strategies for meeting the needs of individual family members and the group as a whole. What is good for individual family members and the family as a whole.
