I. Assessment of the Thorax Abdomen
a. Injuries to this region can produce life-threatening situations
b. ATCs evaluation should focus on signs and symptoms that indicate
potentially life threatening conditions
c. Continually monitor breathing, circulation and any indication of internal
bleeding or shock

a. Area of body bounded by:
i. Diaphragm (above)

iii. Lumbar spine (posterior)

a. History of direct trauma
b. Signs of shock
c. Nausea or vomiting
d. Radiating pain
e. Blood in the urine
f. Abdominal rigidity
g. Change in blood pressure/pulse
