It seems to me that this piece carson wrote is more playful and has a less serious tone. In this work, she brings in a new storyline where she is influenced by a different part of her life. You can imagine her with the child as she explains their adventures to the beach and forest with reindeer lichen sinking while they walk, and it is interesting to read because i get a different theme. Rather than gaining information about the environment around, although she does describe maine vegetation very well, her writing comes from a place of heart and love for her curiosity and time with roger. And when she says things like, this one must be a. Christmas tree for the squirrels, i can feel her love pour out for nature as well as her appreciation for roger loving nature as she did when she was young.
