A trend where students are funneled out of public schools into the juvenile and criminal justice system. Associated with increased police officer presence on campus. Police are more likely to be present at schools with higher rates of ethno racial minority students. Black students are 3x more likely to be arrested at school. These arrests are often due to minor issues. A student arrested in high school is 2x more likely to drop out. A student who appears in court is 4x more likely to drop out.
