1. Explain why in the text there is less information on age related changes
than on age associated changes ?
Age related changes have less reported information than age associated
changes because the age related changes in the vascular and cardiac do not
interfere with peoples day to day lives or ability to function. Age
associated changes have more prevalence to the body.
2. a) Describe four age related changes in the heart
and b) explain how they may affect the cardiac output, and c) How
does the heart adapt to maintain blood pressure
1. A.V. nodes have a decreased response which increases the
chance for arrhythmic beating.
2. S.A. nodes have a decreased response causing the heart rate to
slow.
3. Hardening of ventricle valves causing a heart murmur.
4. Relaxation period increases reducing the overall heart rate.
The heart adapts to the above by increasing the stroke volume, which
allows more blood to fill the heart so blood flow is more consistent.
3. a) Describe the differences between atherosclerosis and mild
arteriosclerosis b) are they both age associated? c) explain. d) what can
be done, if anything, to reduce the threat of each (see PP and outline)
Mild arteriosclerosis is age related where atherosclerosis is age
associated. It is expected to have some loss of elasticity in arteries with
aging which falls under mild arteriosclerosis. Mild arteriosclerosis
usually doesn’t have any symptoms. For severe atherosclerosis
symptoms depend on the arteries that are being blocked. Eating healthy,
quitting smoking if you are a smoker, exercising and maintaining a
healthy weight reduce chances of developing arteriosclerosis.
5.Describe the gray area between age related changes and diseases for
mild and severe arteriosclerosis
The area between related mild changes to severe age associated
changes is the grey area. In this grey area the effects are similar

Document Summary

Age related changes have less reported information than age associated changes because the age related changes in the vascular and cardiac do not interfere with peoples day to day lives or ability to function. Mild arteriosclerosis is age related where atherosclerosis is age associated. It is expected to have some loss of elasticity in arteries with aging which falls under mild arteriosclerosis. For severe atherosclerosis symptoms depend on the arteries that are being blocked. Eating healthy, quitting smoking if you are a smoker, exercising and maintaining a healthy weight reduce chances of developing arteriosclerosis. 5. describe the gray area between age related changes and diseases for mild and severe arteriosclerosis. The area between related mild changes to severe age associated changes is the grey area. This disease occurs when a ouch develops in a weak-ended arterial wall. This pouch fills with blood, and if the area is weak or is filled to much the area could burst.
