The emotional or attitudinal response people have to a word. Some may say school in a more positive manner & others in. Language various on levels of abstraction, from vague to specific. Allows speaker to avoid providing specific details. Words that have unclear or misleading definitions. Can help speaker to avoid uncomfortable situations. Ex: responding it"s very fashionable to the question, how do you like my new haircut? .
