PSC 154 Lecture Notes - Lecture 98: Chronometry, Sentiment Analysis, Holding Hands
Document Summary
Studies of emotion are only as good as their measures of emotion. In order to study emotion in the lab, we need to. Affective chronometry describes the time - course of an emotional response. Emotional responses can be broken down into the 3 rs . Emotion reactivity: the type, magnitude, & duration of initial emotional response to internal & external environment & have significance for personal goals. Emotion recovery: the magnitude & duration of the return from the peak emotional response to baseline. Emotion regulation: the processes by which individuals influence which emotions they have, when they have them, & how they experience & express these emotions. The 3 r"s can be used to describe all components of emotion. Often emotion questionnaires use multiple dimensional assessment. Traditionally performed as paper & pencil measures. Can even be performed on a cell - phone. Allows for questionnaire - like assessment in an ecologically relevant context.
