The looking glass self -> come to think of ourselves as others respond to us. Life experiences can vary based on how multiple identities cluster. Multiple identities are formed & verified in interaction with others issue of intersectionality. Through interactions, we develop self-views of ourselves in social contexts. Those self-views are verified or disconfirmed by the input we receive from other. People are motivated to verify their identities. Social group affiliations, such as ethnic identity, gender identity (& sexual orientation), political identity. Social roles in specific social settings, such as husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father in the family setting. Personal identity what kind of person are you transcends social groups & social roles (?)
