Document Summary

Most of the fighting part of revolution took part in la paz peasants had played only a limited role (in contrast to mexican revolution where everyone got extensively involved) In late 1952 after the revolution comes to power, peasants begin to start their own revolution, they beging to seize haciendas (they are now going to take part of the revolution by taking over hacienda) Mnr had to move quickly on problem with land land reform (reform land tenure would not only quiet unrest but hopefully promote some more capitalist development. Mnr hoped by supporting land reform (the peasants would support ruling coalition) Agrarian reform expropriated (take over some property but you compensate owner) Law would only apply to low productive hacienda and owner did not live on hacienda (subject to expropriation) By 1955 half of families in rural bolivia received some land (much quicker than mexico, in bolivia done rapidly) unfortunately tin nationalization did little solve bolivian economic problems.
