Increase in screening and accurate diagnosis: 4x more likely in boys, up to 8x (cid:373)ore likely if asperger"s is i(cid:374)(cid:272)luded. Epidemiology of anxiety disorders: prevalence estimates range widely, generally converge on estimates of 10% or above in general population, research on sex, ethnic, and ses differences is unclear. Causes of anxiety disorders: early parental relationships, cognitive factors, catastrophize. Imagining worst possible outcome to any situation: perceive threat, attend to distressing aspects of situations, genetic components. Depression: core symptoms, depressed mood (or irritability in children, diminished interest or pleasure, some accompanying symptoms, weight/appetite & sleep changes. I(cid:374)so(cid:373)(cid:374)ia, hyperso(cid:373)(cid:374)ia : motor changes, become slow, fatigue and inability to concentrate, thoughts of death and/or suicide. Epidemiology: among children, generally less than 3, adolescents, 14, adults, 16. 5, typical onset: middle to late adolescence (~13-18, female:male ratio is approx. 1:1 during childhood: becomes 2:1 during adolescence, due to body changes, etc as a result of adolescence.
