Document Summary
Types: while children may experience many of the some disorders as adults, some disorders are specific to childhood, these disorders include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (adhd), separation anxiety disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. Etiology: children suffering from autism disorder show two types of deficits, these deficits include (a) social communication/social interaction deficits, and (b) restrictive repetitive behaviors (rrbs), interests, and activity. Types: post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) is the enduring anxiety and disturbance attributed to a major traumatic event. Individuals suffer depression and experience mania, but their change in mood is less severe than those seen in full mania. Depressive disorders: major depressive disorder is marked by persistent feelings of sadness and despair, loss of interests in previous sources of pleasure, slowed thought processes, and self-blame. The relativistic view holds that the criteria of mental illness vary considerably across cultures. The pancultural view holds that the criteria of mental illness are much the same around the world.
