Testosterone: masculinizing sex hormone; maintains sperm producing capacity of the testes. Both men and women have it, men have more. Pituitary gland: regulates testes in men, ovaries in women: produces fsh (controls sperm production)and lh (controls testosterone production) Hypothalamus, pituitary, and testes work together to keep these levels constant. These hormones fluctuate according to several different things: menstrual cycle, pregnancy, menopause. Just like in men, these hormones are regulated by fsh and lh. Pituitary gland produces: prolactin: stimulation of milk, oxytocin: ejection of milk, cuddle hormone. Women take for 21 to 24 days, and takes a sugar pill for 4 to 7 days and repeats every month. Reversibility: after stopping the pill, there can be a slight delay in return of fertility; may take. 2-3 months: some women may have biologically based fertility problems, the older you get, the harder it is to get pregnant (most fertile time period: 18-20s.
