Ph 2 lecture 1: 6 step process for case analysis, public health. How about outside of the organization such as the target community: economic issues, cultural issues, regulatory philosophies, healthcare factors. Swot analysis: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats: evaluate mission goals of the organization and how it relates to the case. Discuss the root cause of the problem: may be identified with pilot study or published research literature. Develop a theoretical perspective: solutions, alternatives, evaluation. Form action plan with steps for planning, implementing, and evaluating the intervention. Include a timeline and how long each step will take to finish. Chronic and infectious diseases and injuries have behavioral component in disease etiology. I. e. car crashes major injuries no seatbelt. Can help explain determinants of behavior and guide health promotion programs: transtheoretical model/stages of change, social cognitive theory, health belief model, theory of planned behavior, social networks, social ecological model, community based participatory research.
