Perceived benefits: positive things can occur from behavior change. Perceived barriers: cost associated with behavior change; pros have to outweigh the cons. Cues to action: an external event that motivates behavior change; reminder system, groups. Not self-esteem, small manageable steps, tools to reduce anxiety. ***issues with hbm: applicable to individual, not applied to social or environmental issues. There are disparities among the population especially with health knowledge.
