Social reinforcement when someone deviated laughter/raised eyebrows. Always try to uncover rules that govern a social situation. Rule: state your name, class status, major, and maybe hometown. It is difficult to give a deviant introduction after a pattern has been established. They did, but they felt constricted after the first few couple went. The people at the end of the line are strongly compelled to conform. The idea that, in social life, we take on the vantage point of other people. We try to imagine the perspectives of other people, and we use that info as a guide for our own behaviors. Points to social influences of our own self-consciousness.
