PSY 2012 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning
Document Summary
Plasticity: to compensate for function to dendritic branches/ability to recover function when it has been lost. + as we get older, the ability of our brain to compensate tend to decrease. + almost everything you do everyday, there is some form of classical conditioning associate with it. Cs serve as a primer because it produces the effect itself: twice the effect: confused and happy with the drink and the house. Produce its own response: ucs produce stronger response, cs produces response after learning. The stronger the ucs (stimulus), the stronger the reaction (response) Higher order learning: tells us what is going happen if we see multiple stimuli and sequences prior to ucs. The stronger the (stimulus) ucs, the stronger the reaction. Fasten seatbelt cs1 (the closet to the ucs is the strongest) The only way to change your feeling is to associate that with another stimulus that produce a different feeling.
