Near urban areas, they are not hidden, not secret. The newspapers, operated by nazis, cover the camps extensively to deter others from going against them. Communist and socialists (political opponents) are the first ones to become prisoners. Sent there for a sentence of hard labor, imprisoned without a trial, for the good of the german people to keep troublemakers away from the rest of society.
