Gene with higher expression level & more starting cdna pass threshold at earlier cycle: threshold level when passing cycle number: ct value. Inverse relationship between ct value and expression level. Fewer pcr cycles needed to generate enough fluorescence means more cdna/mrna present in the beginning: add same amount of rna throughout everything we are comparing.
