Archaeology - deals with more recent past, people and cultures are gone but material culture still is left. Cultural anthropology - the study of living changing cultures. Sanctions - punishment for violations of appropriate behavior or beliefs. External sanction - something taken away from you from the outside ex; Internal sanctions - feeling of being ashamed or bad ex; The values that people have to belong to a particular group or culture. Reflexivity - asking why we believe what we believe. Cultural relativism - understanding someone else"s culture that is different from you. Ethnocentrism (opposite from cultural relativism) - judging other cultures based on your beliefs.
