1. Foraging
- Carrying capacity goes down in winter - snow on the ground - covers plants
- Population changes consderably during winter (environment change - carrying
capacity)
- Egalitarian

- Constant movement meant a great diet (acess to many foods)- Foragers have the best
diet!
2. Horticulture
Sedentary** - to stay put
●DOES NOT MAKE INTENSIVE USE OF LAND LABOR CAPITAL OR MACHINERY
○No fertilizer
●To leave land alone - fallow
●Just because they weret using machinery, doesn’t mean it was simple - this was their survival
○Extensive type of technology
●They don’t invent storage
●When they have exta food - this is were we see invention of potery and storage
●Still hunting, gathering, fishing while waiting for seeds to grow
●Egalitarian - smaller population
●As the population grows and kinship ties strain, that’s when your policts come in - "hey its their
plants not yours"
●THEYRE NOT AS MOBILE AS THE FORAGERS**
●Their diet is not as good as the forager
