You only have so much capacity to pay attention to something, so sometimes we only pay attention to certain things and ignore the rest. They do this by making us sensitive to certain information. If there is a word in your life that means something to you, and doesn"t mean anything to anyone else. Perception is active: select: three things that make us notice a stimuli. It is intense, repetitious, and something that changes. We select stimuli, we also like repetition, the third thing we notice is something that changes: organize: we organize stimuli based on our expectations, interpret: we interpret the things we see and try to assign meaning to them. Biases and limitations often lead to errors. The process of assigning meaning to others" behavior. We try to give meaning to other people"s behavior. Self attribution tends to differ from other attribution.
