Document Summary

Feels that she has resisted oppression her entire life. Deliberately decided to stand against the bus driver. If someone is able to speak for themselves and tell the story that they want to tell, they get to decide what that story is and exactly how they want to tell it. Someone telling someone else"s story might not necessarily include all the details that the person themselves consider important to overall understanding, and it is also possible that an outside voice can misinterpret the story entirely. An action by a certain person will have a specific meaning to them, and that meaning might not be obvious to someone else. This can lead to an outside voice telling a narrative that is misleading at best and utterly incorrect at worst. However, when the person who did the action is able to tell their own story, this possibility is eliminated, and the story is told as it was meant to be heard.
