Document Summary

Know what geology is and why it is not restricted to the earth anymore: the study of a planet, it"s materials and how these materials change and interact, planetary geology is a thing. Understand why studying geology matters: helps us to understand and find natural resources, agriculture, helps predict earth"s behavior and understand climate change and the history of the earth. Know earth"s context in the solar system. Where most mass resides, what types of planets there are, why pluto is not a planet, etc. They have a metal core and a crust, as well as secondary atmospheres: past the asteroid belt we have the gas giants (made of the lighter elements), larger. Small metal cores and primary atmospheres made of gas and ice. They also have their own systems of moons because they are so large: planets are objects that orbit a star, are spherical and have cleared it"s area of all neighbors.
