Hellenic -- greece; hellenistic -- everyone that"s influenced by the greeks. Actually showed a failure of the polis -- no unity. Persians stopped trying to invade greece because they saw that that was the only thing that brought the greeks together. Instead they started funding greeks in their battles against each other. Once the greeks stop fighting, there are a ton of highly trained soldiers with nothing to do. The greeks don"t really know what they"re signing up for. They are sent to babylon to fight the shah and they win. When they go back to their patron for payment, they find he"s dead (rip) Some people of the greeks are executed and then the greeks organize and elect leaders for their force. Had to kill a boar and a man to become a man. They were really fascinated with the greeks and wanted to both rule and become them.
