Animals and their behavior are an integral part of human society. Scientific method is a formalized way of knowing about the natural world. Scientists study the proximate mechanisms that generate behavior and the ultimate reason why the behavior is evolved. Researchers have examined animal behavior from a variety of perspectives over time. Anthropomorphic explanations of behavior assign human emotions to animals, can be difficult to test. Over 80 million households contain a pet. Cattle, chickens/turkeys, hogs and sheep are important ag products. Horses are used by recreational riders, ranchers, law enforcement officials, and the horse racing industry. Dogs have long been used in both police work and the military. Any internally coordinated, externally visible pattern of activity that responds to changing external or internal conditions. Formal description (inventory) of an animal"s behavior.
