Field of vision is 180 degrees: sometimes kids can have field cut (vision is missing, central vision, peripheral vision is the outer ranges of the field of vision (to the sides) Field cuts: these are large blocks of the field of vision that are not functional, can occur in tbi, strokes -- big strokes. Functional blindness: no sight or little sight that the student learns through other senses (example: braille) Idea definition of blindness: as usual -- related to learning : visual impairment including blindness means an impairment in vision that, even with correction, adversely affects a child"s educational performance. The term includes both partial sight and blindness. Fewer than 2 in 1,000 -- this figure does not include low vision -- only about 1 in 250 children with an iep have vision loss.
