Some students more school dependent than others. Attention and critique of dominant and marginalized cultural representation in curriculum and pedagogical practices (beyond diversity celebrations to equity considerations) Consider relationship between lives/cultures/communities of students and school. Deconstruct and reconstruct (with culture and equity in mind) Priority on cultivating student"s minds and intellectual engagement, access to academic rigor and opportunities. Focus on plural and evolving nature of youth identity and cultural practices. How do students move in and out of cultural circles. How do students reject, adapt, or create hybrid cultural practices.
