Imprinting: learning limited to a specific critical period in life and is generally irreversible. 1860 about 1400 whooping crane birds, 1941 only 15 birds, currently about 200. To try and grow population - tried putting eggs in other crane colonies and imprinted on the other species however could not mate with them so experiment failed. Daily activity patterns of animals with a regular pattern of about 24 hours.
