Zambezi - starts in democratic republic of congo. Much of the continent is like a high plateau. Coastline is unfriendly to ships because plateau leads right up to coast. Physical landscape was unfriendly to colonial powers coming in. Red sea created by the moving apart of divergent plates. Great lakes as a result of diverging plates. Great rift valley is result of diverging tectonic plates. Watersheds - have inland and coastal deltas. East and south have escarpments and breaks in tectonic plates.
