38 views6 pages

Document Summary

Phagocytize pathogens that enter tissues, then enter lymphatics to present antigens to t cells in lymph node. Most effective antigen presenter known: macrophages in connective tissues and lymphoid organs. Present antigens to t cells which not only activates t cell but also further activates macrophage: activation of t cells by infected cells, process known as antigen recognition. Inactive t cell, infected body cell (including apcs); the inactive t cell has a t cell receptor and an antigen recognition protein attached to it, coming into contact with an mhc protein that"s presenting an antigen fragment. T cells are inactive until they recognize a specific antigen; involves binding between mhc protein process fragment and the t cell receptor. Class of proteins containing membrane proteins involved in antigen recognition. Found on cytotoxic t cells and regulatory t cells > collectively known as cd8 t cells.
