Lec 17: 3 primary functions of emotions, interpersonal, intra personal, cultural. Not able to process people you know with emotion so you don"t believe its them: alexathymia. People have a hard time recognizing and expressing emotions. In order for appropriate social interactions to occur we need to dance with the person were speaking with. We need to be able to understand our own emotions to understand other"s emotions: metacognition. Looking inside yourself and understanding what you are thinking. Interpersonal: recognizing facial expressions, eye tracking, communicating how you feel through facial expressions, trying to elicit certain expressions based on your facial expressions, signals the state of interpersonal relationships.
