Outline- (cid:862)the o(cid:272)ial defi(cid:374)itio(cid:374) of ti(cid:373)e for u(cid:374)i(cid:448)ersit(cid:455) tude(cid:374)ts(cid:863) Thesis: there are six different types of time, and each person experiences a different combination of these six types each day. Informal scheduled time- fixed by the individual: timeless time- the loss of significance of physical time when one is completely submerged in the task at hand. You are in a liminal state- your normal limits to thoughts and behavior are relaxed: endless time- no personal internal immersion in an activity but some kind of external requirement. Work periods longer than 24 hours: compressed time- when tasks remain incomplete by the end of a given deadline; sense of urgency, wasted time- the time waiting to be served. Scheduled time-embedded in the social organizational structure of a university; keeps things running smoothly: scheduled classes, passing times, etc, some students are able to slip in and out of scheduled time easily.
