Americans loose 64 billion by being stuck in traffic, if current growth rate continues it will swell to 3x that figure. Current: 1/3 of greenhouse gases emission, greatest reason for the growing of greenhouse gasses= suburbanization- spread our self out so much. 20% of trips we make are work related, 80% non-work related. We cannot afford it on environmental, economical or time level. 16 million lane miles of highways and roads in need of repair: civil engineers say it will take 2 trillion dollars, national debt: over 9 trillion dollars.
