Document Summary
Review of final exam points: exam 1= 20, exam 2/3 = 50, exam 3- avg. 70: final- in class, less people to compare vs previous exams. Previous lecture on estrogen: menopause (no longer have small follicles), will not have tissue (granulosa, theca cells) to make estrogen, decrease estrogen, decrease bone mass. Estrogen therapies- not good because increases risk of breast cancer (estrogen sensitive), stroke (blood clotting), etc: estrogen replacement- massive dose of estrogen which messes up everything hormonally. So density once reach menopause will not be as severe to cause bone breaking/thin bones. Cage layer fatigue, occurs in prolific hens kept in cages. (not getting load bearing exercise on their bones) the disease is typified by muscular paralysis and serve osteoporosis (bone breaking/thin bones). Pores serve an important in co2, water, air transport. Blood supply is right underneath cell, so we have really good exchange of co2 and oxygen with the developing embryo.
