Document Summary

Psychology 1101: lecture 10: conformity- you act like other people in order to match those of others within in a group, compliance- someone ask you to do something and you do it, obedience- specific compliance from legitimate authority. Trick that get other people to do what you want: foot in the door. A strategy designed to gain a favorable response to a small request at first, with the intent of making the person more likely to agree later to a larger request. Trick, agreeing to buy something at a given prices increases the likelihood of agreeing to purchase it at a higher price. Ex) when you are buying a car and you agree with a price. However, when salesman comes back and prices are raised, you would agree to the higher price: door in the face. Refusing a large request increases the likelihood of agreeing to a second, smaller request. People might get higher than what they wanted.
