In the downturn of tobacco prices but it devastated common planters (economic downturn) Indentured servants directed their frustration to their colonial governor william berkely. Appointed in 1641: fortunate to be gov when there was an economic boom however was also present during the economic downturn. Common planters decided by the 1670s that they wanted to acquire more land, meaning taking away from the indians. These common planters found a leader by the name nathaniel bacon. Begin in 1676 and governor berekely tells bacon you cannot attack indians . Bacon ignore the governor"s demand and continue attacking indians. These attacks against native americans are labelled a rebellion, namely bacon"s rebellion. Bacon consumed some of the water in jamestown, came down with dysentery and by october he"s dead. By october 1676 the rebellion is in a state of disarray.
