Document Summary

In rojecki"s media, dissent, and anti-war movements he discusses the effect the media has on politics and anti-war movements. In the past mass media was the main carrier of information and opinion to mass audiences. Therefore, politicians and movement leaders had to catch the attention of the mass media to spread the information. Internet, which has formed a more complex environment as an outlet for discussions and information, that in turn changes the relationship between public opinion and anti-war movements (p. 2). Specifically, he explores whether news media enables and constrains anti-war movements and if they succeed in the state restraining military force. As well as if changes in war, the information system and the power balance change from the end of the cold war have altered that relationship (p. 3). Rojecki builds of several different political communication theories, other works such as essays, and magazines and analyzes them to form and support his findings.
