Social vulnerability: vulnerability is the potential for loss of life or property due to hazards. What is mitigation: working to reduce the severity of a problem/issue. What is the best description of geoengineering: intervention in the earth"s climate system to remove co2 from the atmosphere or manage solar radiation. Removing co2 from the atmosphere: scrubbers to remove co2, very expensive, cover large areas of land or ocean with silicate minerals, which absorb co2, [silicate weathering, casio3+co2 caco3+sio2. Reflecting more solar radiation: sulfur spraying into the stratosphere, mimicking the effect of volcano eruptions, would have to keep it going for decades, artificial glaciers, space reflectors, expensive!! How are glacier blankets related to geoengineering: the blankets are highly reflective and increase albedo, the blankets keep the glacier from melting, thereby maintaining high albedo ice surface. 1 the best remedy is to reduce emissions. 2 geoengineering may hold promise, but will take research into the consequences of meddling with earth systems/feedbacks.
